PIYO – It’s coming……

PiYo is a total-body fitness system designed to whip you into shape from head to toe. It combines the practices of Pilates and yoga to help you build strength, lose weight, increase flexibility and have a great time doing it. PiYo was created by Chalene Johnson, the founder of the Turbo Kick system. It was designed for people who want the mind-body benefits of a yoga or Pilates workout, but with a higher-energy, higher-sweat class.

No Weights.  No Jumps.

Just hardcore results.

Here’s a video of an actual class in action:

It was designed to increase flexibility and strength, accomplishing this by utilizing a unique combination of Pilates and Yoga-based moves to get you long, lean toned muscle all while keeping the pace quick enough to help you burn unwanted fat. You get the muscle-defining moves of Pilates with the flexibility of Yoga to get you the body you’ve always wanted – WITHOUT USING ANY WEIGHTS!!!

PiYo workouts are a combination of influences, which include yoga, Pilates, strength training, cardio and core training, all combined into one 30 to 45 minute workout set to a fast pace. They were created specifically to help you obtain the long, lean muscles, toned abs, firm buttocks and defined arms that yoga can help you achieve with the benefits of a fat torching, sweat inducing cardio workout as well. The movements are fluid so there is little impact on the joints. Even so, you are constantly moving for the duration of the workout to keep your heart rate up at an optimal range to burn the maximum amount of calories.
